Peekachu's 5 Bite Journey!

Post  Peekachu82 on Mon Jan 16, 2012 11:54 pm

So, I am really getting sick of being on this cruel weight loss/weight gain roller coaster! I have so many good things to look forward to this year..and I want to feel and look good for all of them too! My anniversary, an important birthday..a special vacation at the end of the year..hey, and for summer, for once, I want to be comfortable wearing sleeveless tops! I keep trying and failing, because I have a serious addiction to food..most of all, sweets..I love desserts..chocolate..mmmm..I eat mostly when I am feeling emotional..to heal my loneliness, or sadness, & boredom..but the sick irony, is that I end up feeling worse once I've binged..I hate not having that control..and when I gain weight, I feel like a failure, and it's a vicious cycle! So, I am 5'3" or around there..on the 5 Bite Diet, the website recommends 104 lbs. ...so we'll see..seems like an impossibilty right now! In Highschool I was always around 120 lbs. then as the story goes, I grew up..had a couple babies..and I gained..up to 190 lbs. which really scared me since I was so close to 200..so, it took me a couple years..and I got down to about 155 lbs. All of 2009, 2010, and this year..I've gone up and down, and up and down, from 145 to 155.. this year though I've really felt down, and just kept stuffing food in..even if I wasn't hungry..and gained..so, today's weigh in: 157 lbs. and I am so exhausted! I need to lose 50 lbs. immediately..so I am going to give this diet a try..today is Day #1 and I am struggling! So hungry! and..this might sound strange..but sometimes I tell myself, why suffer, when there's no way you can do this? Why would I tell myself that? And, then I also get super depressed, because then I'm like, this will take months! Just give up now! Which I don't understand..because it's stupid..the months will pass anyways, and then I'll wish I had just sucked it up..and got this over with! Does anyone else have these insane battles with themselves in their head?? Lol..

So Far..
B: Nothing
L: Pack Of PB Crackers (Less Than 2 Oz. & 190 Cals.)
D: (I Plan On Eating A Snickers!)
I'm drinking Diet Dr. Pepper.

Then I will try my best to just go to bed hungry..and reassure myself that this will be completely worth giving up extra portions! :-)

break the sugar addition

Post  Snow White on Tue Jan 17, 2012 1:38 am

My advice is to try to break your sugar addiction with a low carb lifestyle. I thought I was a food addict too until I starting low carbing and eating mostly protein. Carbs only make you hungrier which makes you feel like you are a food addict. When you start eating mostly protein you will not feel terribly hungry even on this diet. My first 5 or 6 days I ate only meat for my bites. This helped to seriously reduce my cravings for carbs. Now I eat 3-4 bites of protein and I feel a lot better. I wish you much, much luck. You CAN do it! Remember the first 3 days are supposed to be pretty rough. Let us know how you are doing! : ))))

Thanks so much for your reply! It really motivates me when I know I'm not alone! But weirdly..it also helps when someone I personally know doesn't think I can do it, it makes me want to prove them wrong! :-P But I really appreciate support, especially from people I know are going through the same situation/diet..I had a snickers for dinner..now I just have to ignore late night cravings! Good idea too..I will try to eat more protein..however, lol..I'm a vegetarian..or more specifically..a pescatarian..so, I could try to eat more seafood, I love tuna..and that has protein, right? I also love veggie burgers, veggie sausage/bacon/etc. so I will focus more on those foods..what I'm really excited about is weighing in tomorrow morning! I wonder how much I'll lose from the 1st day? This will be a problem for me though..I do like to excessively weigh myself..like 3 or 4 times a day..then I get upset over slight fluctuations..which make me give up! ..so after tomorrow morning..I will attempt to weigh in on Friday's only, but that's going to be just as tough as the diet! How often and when does everybody else weigh in? :-/

First of all, Welcome peekachu!!! Its so nice to meet you! 50ish lbs may seem like a lot but it will come off quicker than you think and then you can just be DONE losing weight, doesn't that sound worth the few months its gonna take? I'm also trying to lose 50 lbs, I'm about 30 lbs there now and it's taken me 5 months so far but I'm a very slow loser so you'll be faster than me I'm sure Smile So hang in there, it's so worth it!

Also, your first day you were very hungry, I remember that. The first 3-5 days are the hardest.. for me it was 5 days and then my body adapted, I felt not just satisfied on 5 bites but FULL! and you will too. Plus you'll feel some renewed energy etc. So push through these first few days, it does get easier I promise!
Another thing, I noticed for lunch you had crackers, really try to eat some protein at every meal, especially these first few days, it will satisfy you longer in between meals, so maybe today have 4 bites of something you like and one full bite of chicken or fish, beef, etc.. for me I like to combine my meals, like a chicken and rice casserole, then I get protein and carbs (which I LOVE) in every bite.. or even spaghetti with meat sauce, again protein and carbs in every bite, or try a chicken wrap or sandwich or something, but definitely eat what you enjoy, the diet is so much better knowing you can have your chocolate cake and eat it too, LOL

But again welcome and post daily! We'll be here to support you for sure Smile

Day #2!

Post  Peekachu82 on Tue Jan 17, 2012 2:56 pm

Thank you so much Spryng & Dmac! You know, it's not a bad idea..I'll try weigh in's on Monday's..it will motivate me through the week..and weekend..I really needed the encouragement..and of course, like I already knew, the 1st day was the toughest..well, so far..it's just getting started that's rough..I wanted to start Jan. 1..but kept messing up, then sabotaging myself..so finally yesterday I was fed up! I could have finished this last year! Oh, and by the way, even though I have lost 30 lbs. already, it took me a couple years, and I've never been able to stay on a diet for longer than a week! So..I am really going to have to concentrate really hard to last longer! Last night, I took something to help me sleep, just to make sure I wouldn't start late night snacking! But today I think I can do it w/out drugs, as I see I've lost weight!

Yesterday: 157 lbs.
Today: 155.0 lbs.! :-D (so happy w/-2 lbs.!) However..I'm afraid it's going to slow down, and not be like this every day! :-/

B: Nothing
L: Diet Dr. Pepper..and as suggested..I'll try something more "filling"..like a tuna sandwich on wheat..
D: Not sure yet..if nothing else..maybe a Snickers..?

Happy 5 Biting everyone!

Day #3!

Post  Peekachu82 on Wed Jan 18, 2012 9:15 pm

So..I can totally not stick to just weighing in once a week..it is soo hard! How do y'all do it? Lol..Anyways..

Yesterday, 1/17: I ended up having..

B: Nothing
L: Snickers Bar
D: 5 Bites Mozzarella Sticks (We went to Chile's..& it was torture to just eat 5 bites & be done! Also, I went with the Cheese Sticks..because they were cheap..and I would feel guilty about getting something more expensive..& then not eating it! :-/ But hey, by the grace of God, our waitress forgot our appetizer, Onion Strings, oh my word..those are my favorite..I would have eaten the whole plate! So thank the Lord they never reached the table! :-P)

Today, 1/18:

Weigh In (Couldn't Help Myself!): 153.4 lbs.! :-) That means I've lost so far..3.6 lbs. in 3 days! Yay! :-D
B: Nothing
L: 3 Bites Fish Sandwich, & 2 Bites French Fries..Not Healthy, I know, but good..& so hard to stop..the french fries were so hot & salty..mmm..& it's freezing outside..but I did it! :-)
D:?

BTW..I'm finding out that the physical part of this diet is not hard at all for me..I don't mind the pain..the hunger..it's more mentally challenging..it's extremely hard emotionally..I just want that chocolate cake..cookies..whatever..when I have a bad day..why is this?? & sometimes it becomes extreme..like I feel like I am going to have an anxiety attack if I don't have that dessert.. :-( I feel like I need it..or I won't be able to make it..for example..if I'm depressed..I feel like that turtle cheesecake in the freezer will heal my pain..that sounds way crazy..and I don't understand those thoughts at all!

I know just what you mean about having more of a head and emotional hunger than a physical hunger. When I'm stressed, desserts and other junk food look more appetizing to me. I don't know why either. But you are dealing with it, so that's awesome. Good job! Smile

Rough Night!

Post  Peekachu82 on Thu Jan 19, 2012 2:01 am

I'm glad I'm not alone! :-) I'm just having a difficult time right now..I'm so happy & proud I've made it to Day #3, & done great..but right now..wow..-50 lbs. sounds soooo far away..and I know this is so worth it, it's what I want more than anything! But because my goal seems so far away..I'm just so hungry! How am I going to do this? How can I do this? :-( I don't know how to keep pushing..I'm hungry..it's bad! And I am losing a lot..but I don't think it's going to be like Dr. Lewis says, like -10 lbs./week..lol..I wish! Does anyone have his book? Maybe if I had it I could read it a couple times a day to get through this! And if anyone has the book, do you find it helpful? Thanks! (oh jeez..the potato chips are calling my name..) How can I deal with this hunger for..well..if I do this perfectly..how long will it take? I'd love to be done in 2 mo. but it will probably take 3 mo. right? :-/

The book absolutely helps he suggest at the end of the book to read it for at least 10 minutes everyday and it does help lots I'll usually read my 10 minutes after lunch to get eating more out of my head
About the 50 lbs don't think of that. Try to get thru each day instead that's what helps me the hunger should get better tomorrow

Day by Day..

Post  Peekachu82 on Thu Jan 19, 2012 2:44 am

Thank you so much Dmac! I really needed that! You're really right..if I start thinking about how huge the number is that I need to lose or how long it's going to take..I'm going to get sooo overwhelmed and just give up! So..I just need to focus on now..on each day..take baby steps..one day at a time..I'd really like the book..is there another place online to buy it for less?

Day #4!

Post  Peekachu82 on Thu Jan 19, 2012 2:48 pm

Oh my word..can't believe I made it this far! But..I'm surprised I finished the 1st day, lol..just getting started is a challenge! Well, I made it through last night..but it was unbelievably difficult! I stayed up last night until after 1 AM, because it was so hard to sleep..and I kept trying to think of something other than food! Like seeing myself in my head 50 lbs. lighter.. :-P But anyways..this morning..I feel ravenous! I don't know how I can make it to noon for lunch! I need to have major will power today..I wonder when this pain will go away? :-/

Okay..I weighed in again today..but I swear..I need to stop doing it every morning..but seeing the numbers drop motivates me to keep going! However, than I think about it too much..so..after today..I will "attempt" to weigh in only on Monday's! We'll see how that goes..

Today: 152.2 lbs.! :-D (-4.8 lbs. in 4 days!)

Wonderful!

Post  Snow White on Thu Jan 19, 2012 5:28 pm

I am so proud of your weight loss! : ))))) One thing that has helped me with the hunger is admitting that I am not really hungry (my stomach doesn't growl) I just want to taste food. Instead I try to have a lot of zero calorie beverages on hand so I can taste something that won't throw me off my diet. Hope this helps! Good luck and way to go with your weight loss! : ))))

My Little Rant For The Day..

Post  Peekachu82 on Thu Jan 19, 2012 6:38 pm

You're right, I know I just want to taste food..I love the way food tastes..but why is it that it's so hard to be satisfied with a couple bites of brownies? Why do I want the whole pan? :-/ It's definitely more of an emotional issue..maybe? I'm so confused..I know the 25th bite of brownie will taste the same as the 2nd..but I love the 25th bite just as much! :-P I want to keep tasting food..but it's either an addiction..or for my mental health..I think something that tastes good will make me happy..joyful..but in reality..well..I heard this really good quote..something like.."food will taste good for 3 min., but skinny/thin/fit will taste good forever.." I don't know why that helps..but sometimes it does..I realize the "joy" I get from food only lasts a short time..then leaves me more sad & dissapointed..& farther from my goal..if I could just get this over with & done..I'd be so much more happy! :-) And your other idea, I find really helpful..I drink a lot of non calorie drinks during the day..really helps to have something..diet dr. pepper..or diet cherry coke..or 0 cal. sparkling water..especially the flavored kinds, I love black cherry! I also love diet ginger ale..& diet cranberry ginger ale..mmm..really delicious! :-D

B: Nothing
L: I made it to lunchtime! :-) 5 Bites of Granola Bars

I'm right there with you on the emotional battle and remember I have a little over 50 lbs to lose too (from day 1) and I'm just about 30 lbs down now, it seemed overwhelming to me too at first but I set small goal, like instead of thinking, man I have to lose 50 lbs! I thought, lets lose 10 lbs and see how I feel.. when I lost 10, I thought, lets lose 10 more and see what size I'm in.. I lost 10 more.. and now down almost 30 I know I want to keep going to get into the size dress I truly want so think of it in small goals, achieve those and make new ones Smile

Another Hard Night!

Post  Peekachu82 on Thu Jan 19, 2012 11:52 pm

Thanks so much for the reply! That is a good idea..I just can't stress myself out.. :-P

D: 3 Bites BLT (Lol..it's actually just veggie bacon & mayo on wheat bread!) 1 Bite of Potato Chips, & 1 Bite of a 3 Muskateers!

But..I really want the rest of my sandwich!! :-( It looks & smells sooo good..I feel like I'm going to have a breakdown..or at least cry.. :-/

I'm not sure if I can do this! I am having a melt down! I want the rest of my sandwich, & then a PB & J, and a handful of goldfish, & some more potato chips..maybe a frozen snickers..or I'd like to make those no bake cookies..or the carrot cake mix I have in the cupboard..oh wow..this is so difficult..okay, I'm going to try to surf the internet, & look at clothes..& try to remember my goal..I know that sounds weird..but I love going to Victoria's Secret, or ModCloth..any online shopping..and remember how much I want to get into smaller jeans! And wear small tops...but the taste of food is screaming at me..this is the most difficult day mentally so far for me!! :-(

yeah your thoughts are gonna lead you to a full blown binge if you give in! So stay strong.. definitely find something to keep your mind and hands busy if possible. Do you crochet, write, craft, play an instrument? Gotta find something to keep your mind off of food. Maybe even make your house a no fail zone and get out some of those food items that are tempting you, the ones you know you can't stop at 5 bites. I don't keep snack foods in the house I like.. my kids have lots of snacks but for some reason they eat things I don't so none of their stuff is tempting me at all. You can always resort to brushing your teeth too so you don't wanna eat and destroy your minty mouth, LOL Or go to bed early tonight, more sleep means better weightloss anyway so it's a win win Smile

I agree with Spryng. You need to get rid of anything tempting. In fact, when I first started the diet I didn't even have a candy bar in my house. That way even if you feel like cheating there is nothing for you to cheat on. Another way I trick myself is I bought some herbal teas and one of them is infused with chocolate and when I drink the tea I can smell the chocolate and the tea is sweet so I trick my brain into thinking that I just cheated Smile You can do this. It does take a bit before you feel 100% full after you five bites, but you will get there. As soon as you start to see those numbers on the scale get smaller and smaller you will realize that what you're going through currently is totally worth it!!!!! Remember that all of us are here for you! rabbit

No More Binging!

Post  Peekachu82 on Fri Jan 20, 2012 2:07 am

Oh wow..thank you guys soo much! The support helps tons..and all of you are so inspirational to me! :-) I just dumped the rest of my sandwich in the trash! I am so sick of failing! After I put my kiddos in bed..I'm going to take a hot bath to distract myself..& then force myself to go to bed early! :-D (one day at a time, one day at a time, one day at a time..) & breathe.. :-P why am I soo impatient? I would love to wake up and be whatever my goal weight is..105..maybe..but at this moment, I am soo close to 149..but my very first major goal is to reach 139 lbs.! I haven't seen the 130's in..9 yrs., I didn't even realize it's been that long! Oh wow, it's about time!!

Day #5!

Post  Peekachu82 on Fri Jan 20, 2012 2:59 pm

Okay..I know I said I would only weigh in once a week now..but I can't do it! Last night, yeah..I was having a war with myself..lol..wanting to binge..but I am soo happy I didn't! :-) (Now..I can finally see why throwing away the rest of my sandwich was worth it!) However..I will tell you that sleeping was rough! I tossed & turned allll night..from tummy pains/aches..then I was getting muscle cramps..then I got weird restless legs..so I was laying there..trying to stretch out my legs in the air, then trying to curl up into a ball so my tummy would stop hurting.. :-/ hopefully these pains will go away.....? (or else I'll need sleeping pills!) And now this morning..I am worn out! I have a slight headache..and my eyes are achy..& I wish I could go back to sleep..but I have some important errands to run..oh well..maybe it will keep me busy enough to not think about food..because I am really hungry right now! I plan on meeting my husband for lunch..and I am really craving subway right now..I love the tuna melt..so that's probably what I'll have! :-)

Weigh In Today.. 150.6 lbs.! :-D Yess..that means..I have lost.. -6.4 lbs. in 5 days! I'm really happy..but at the same time..let's see..my lowest weight last year was 142 lbs. so once I hit lower than that, I'll really be celebrating! :-D

are you taking a multivitamin daily? that is pretty important on this diet since we aren't taking in very food each day, so start taking that, drinking plenty of water and see if those problems ease Smile

Post  Peekachu82 on Fri Jan 20, 2012 7:16 pm

I do have multi-vitamins..the one for women..that's supposed to have everything you need..I guess..lol..but I haven't taken them yet..that's a good idea, I'll start taking them today! And water..I don't like the taste, if it has a taste.. :-P Now..if it's 100 degrees outside, and I'm really hot..or after working out (I don't remember the last time I did though!)..then I find a cold glass of water with ice really refreshing! But other than that..bleh..I do have this stuff you put into your water..drops..can't remember what they're called! I have every flavor..and they're 0 cals.! :-) My favorite is pomegranate & something..it makes your water sorta taste like kool-aid with 0 cals.! :-) However..they are really expensive..we just got them because we had these coupons when they first came out..and I believe we got a free pack of water with them..that was last year..well..today..I am finding the hunger more manageable..it's still there..but I'm finding it's usually more of an emotional issue I have with food..I just don't want to stop eating..but maybe if this diet helps me break this unhealthy addiction/binging problem..I know I will be happier and can stay at my GW..I need to find another outlet..what else will make me feel good? I don't know why..it was just always taught to me..if there is a happy occasion or a sad one..you celebrate or fix your feelings with food!

Now I'm learning to eat only when I'm hungry (& to have major self control!) :-)

B: Nothing
L: 5 Bites of Subway Tuna Melt, wheat with tuna and provolone, toasted.. (mmm..so good..I could have eaten it all!)
D: ? (I'm thinking the bag of Cheetos I didn't get to eat from Subway..lol..I'm craving them now!)

Post  Peekachu82 on Fri Jan 20, 2012 9:57 pm

Thank you so much! I wanted to have this journal for a couple reasons..one is to be honest about what every day has been like for me..especially the struggles..so I won't forget..and will see how strong I actually can be..and for other people..for others to see that we might be going through the same thing..so we can support each other..and keep going! Secondly, this journal keeps me accountable..and when I want to binge..I write on here..and it stops me from losing control! :-) Also, I find that as every day passes..it is getting..I wouldn't say easier..but just..umm..it's like a routine that I'm used to..I guess that's the best way to describe it! If I get past a week on this diet..I will be so proud of myself! But I am really worried right now because it's Friday..and the weekend will be tough..We've All Got To Be Strong! I didn't suffer for 5 days so far..just to ruin it all!

As a quick note..today was the very first day..I was actually slightly light headed and shaky..but after lunch the feeling subsided..
